BITSAT — Complete Exam Guide 2025-26
Overview
For admission to undergraduate programs such as B.E., B.Pharm, and integrated M.Sc. courses at BITS Pilani, BITS Goa, and BITS Hyderabad, the Birla Institute of Technology and Science administers the BITSAT (Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test), an national level online entrance exam. The three-hour computer-based exam test students’ knowledge of physics, chemistry, mathematics/biology, English proficiency, and logical reasoning. Most of the questions are taken from the NCERT Class 11 and 12 syllabus. The BITSAT is known for its speed-based and concept-focused format, its strict merit-only admissions criteria without a reservation system, and its unique feature that lets students try extra questions for bonus points if they finish the exam early.

BITSAT-2025 Test Format
Each BITSAT-2025 session will last three hours (without a break) and consist of the following four sections:
| Part I: | Physics |
| Part II: | Chemistry |
| Part III: | (a) English Proficiency and (b) Logical Reasoning |
| Part IV: | Mathematics or Biology (For B.Pharm. candidates) |
Each question has four possible responses, with only one being the right response. These are all objective multiple-choice questions. Three marks are awarded for each right response, and one mark is deducted for each wrong response (-1 mark). Questions that are not answered receive no points. The computer won’t let the candidate select more than one option as the right response, even though they can skip a question.
There will be a total of 130 questions. Each section has the following number of questions:
| Part | Subject | No of Questions |
|---|---|---|
| Part I | Physics | 30 |
| Part II | Chemistry | 30 |
| Part III | (a) English Proficiency | 10 |
| (b) Logical Reasoning | 20 | |
| Part IV | Mathematics/Biology (For B. Pharma) | 40 |
| Total | 130 |
Each section of the test has no time limit. The candidate has the option to review and revise any of the 130 questions.
If there is still time, a candidate who completes all 130 questions (without skipping any) will be able to try 12 (twelve) additional questions. There will be extra three questions from each of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology, and Logical Reasoning. Additionally, the candidate cannot go back and correct any of the 130 already answered questions once they have chosen to answer additional questions.
A good student can complete 130 questions in 180 minutes due to the way the questions are designed. The additional questions (a maximum of 12) will allow highly qualified candidates to score higher.
Candidates should be aware, nevertheless, that incorrect answers may result in negative grading, and attempting to answer questions solely by guesswork is unlikely to yield any benefits but could lower the overall score.
From a large question bank, the questions will be chosen at random. Different sets of questions will be given to different candidates. A committee of experts will make sure that the question sets have similar levels of difficulty, substance, question types, etc. The expert committee’s decision in this case will be final and binding on the candidate.
The test’s instructions and questions will only be available in English. For rough work, signing, and other purposes, candidates should have a pen. There will be a scratch pad available for rough work. Test centers prohibit the use of calculators and logarithmic tables. Candidates are not permitted to carry any other personal items, including cell phones.
Upon registering for BITSAT-2025, each applicant will receive instructions to download a “Hall Ticket.” Candidates holding the hall ticket only will be allowed into the Test centers. Web cameras and/or closed circuit TV cameras installed in the exam centers will be used to record candidates’ identities and behaviours, and all centers are closely watched for security reasons. A candidate’s fingerprints and photo will be taken during the BITSAT-2025 exam, and they will be compared when they are admitted to a specific BITS campus. Anyone who violates the test center’s rules will be automatically rejected and cannot proceed with the test.
Syllabus
Syllabus 2026:
The NCERT syllabus for the 11th and 12th grades will serve as the basis for the BITSAT-2025 exam. The Annexure contains a complete syllabus. For the contents, candidates may refer to the NCERT textbooks.
Candidates who have registered will have access to a sample test that demonstrates the features of the BITSAT-2025 on the BITS admission website, where they can practice as often as they like.
BITSAT Score Report
When the test is over, the computer will tell the candidate the score and the total number of right and incorrect answers. After completing the test, the applicant will log out after submitting their scores in the test window. Without submitting the correct score in the test window, the candidate is unable to log out. This task verifies that the student has reviewed their grades prior to closing the exam window. A few days following the exam date, the candidate can also view the score record on the BITS admission website. Additionally, the candidate has the option to print off the score report for future use.
As previously mentioned, a candidate who takes the BITSAT-2025 in the first or both sessions is only qualified for admission if they receive the necessary minimum scores in the 12th exam topics of physics, chemistry, and mathematics in accordance with the previously outlined eligibility criteria.
From June 1 to June 30, 2025 (tentative), all candidates who took the BITSAT-2025 first, second, or both sessions and are interested in admission must submit an Admission Application Form with their 12th grades and preferences for the various degree programs offered at the Pilani, K K Birla Goa, and Hyderabad campuses. Additional information regarding iteration outcomes and future iterations will be made public on the admission website, www.bitsadmission.com.
Based on their BITSAT-2025 scores, the merit position of such qualified candidates (i.e., those who took the test and filed the application for admission in the specified form with the 12th marks, preferences, and the necessary fees) would be prepared.
When two candidates have identical scores on the BITSAT-2025, their results in mathematics and biology (for a bachelor’s degree in pharmacy) will be taken considered to separate them. Their BITSAT-2025 Physics scores would be taken considered to separate them if the tie exists. Their Chemistry scores are used to eliminate any additional ties. Additionally, their separation will be based on their PCM/PCB (for B.Pharm.) total test scores from the 12th grade. In the event of another tie, the oldest application is taken into consideration first and the tie is finally broken, favouring the female candidate.
SCHOLARSHIPS
Students at the Institute are eligible for numerous scholarships, fellowships, and other forms of financial assistance, including the Institute’s own merit or merit-cum-need awards. Even prior to acceptance, about 30% of students get assistance of some kind. Scholarship recipients must maintain excellent behaviour and academic status in order for their awards to continue.
a) For FD students: Approximately 25% of students accepted into first-degree programs get semester tuition fee waivers, ranging from 10% to 100%, in the form of merit or merit-cum need scholarships, as shown in the table below:

Note: The admission fee will not be refunded.
b) All awards are given out for a single semester, and their continuation in the following semesters will rely on the candidate’s needs and performance at the Institute.
Important Notes
- A sizeable question bank is used to create the tests, and various candidates will receive different sets of questions. A committee of experts will guarantee that the question sets are similar in terms of difficulty, content, question type, etc. The expert committee’s decision in this case will be definitive and enforceable against the candidate.
- The test is predicated on the applicant having a basic understanding of using a keyboard and mouse on a computer. The Institute cannot be held accountable for the candidate’s failure to learn these abilities prior to the test.
- In addition to the previously mentioned BITS campuses in Pilani, K K Birla Goa, and Hyderabad, the Institute intends to run test centers in other cities. Candidates will be notified via the BITS admission website, www.bitsadmission.com, of the final list of centers and their actual operating days. The establishment of test centers in each of these cities is not guaranteed by the Institute. Additionally, if such a circumstance occurs, the Institute retains the authority to cancel any test center. In these situations, applicants assigned to these centers will be housed in other testing facilities, such as the BITS campuses in Pilani, K K Birla, Goa, and Hyderabad.
- The dates of the BITSAT-2025 examinations are set for May 26–May – May 30, 2025, for Session-1, and June 22 to June 26, 2025, for Session-2. However, depending on the volume of applications received, some test sites may only be open for a brief amount of time during this time. Once all applications have been received, the final list of centers will be posted on the BITS admission website.
- The exam will be held in two sessions each day. The first time slot will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, while the second time slot will run from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM. Depending on availability, a candidate may select any of these two positions. The admission website will provide further information. (The system automatically assigns the test date and time based on preferences and available dates and times if the candidate does not reserve the time slot and date during the specified timeframe.)
- Your choices are merely suggestions that will help the Institute choose how many centers to open. It is not guaranteed by the Institute that you will receive your preferred choice. Additionally, you will be assigned a center at the BITS campuses in Hyderabad, Pilani, or K K Birla Goa if the Institute is unable to assign any of your preferred centers. The BITS admission website, www.bitsadmission.com, will reveal the exact location of your test. However, the Institute will make an effort to accommodate all female applicants at the exam centers of their choice.
- The candidate will be automatically eliminated from the test if they do not fully comply with the test centers’ policies.
- A candidate may amend the necessary fields in the online application between April 29 and May 1, 2025, if they fill out the application form and pay the cost but find any errors. For security and privacy reasons, no email inquiries about corrections will be accepted. During this time, the candidate must go online and update their application, with the exception of gender, email address, and phone number. The application cannot be edited in any way.
- Candidates must apply for admission to BITS in accordance with the previously described “Procedure to apply for Admission” in addition to applying for and taking the BITSAT-2025. For individuals who register for BITSAT-2025 and want to be admitted to BITS, the required online application form will be available on the BITS admission website from June 1st to June 30th (tentatively).
